Charles H. Spurgeon

What happens when God calls you to go one way, but you choose to run the other? In Jonah 1:1–3, Pastor Joshua Parriera examines how Jonah receives a clear command from God, yet instead of obeying, he runs in the opposite direction. But Jonah’s story is not simply about running from God. It is a story of God’s unrelenting grace, pursuing His people even when they turn away. In this message, we look at Jonah’s disobedience, the danger of running from God, and the gracious God who pursues us even in our rebellion.

God doesn’t only call preachers and pastors. He calls all of His people to use their gifts, skills, creativity, and abilities for His glory. In Exodus 31, we meet Bezalel and Oholiab, two men chosen by God and equipped by His Spirit to do the work of building the tabernacle. Their story reminds us that our gifts are not accidental, our calling is not insignificant, and our work matters when we surrender it to God. In this message, Pastor Joshua Parriera explores what it means to be called, filled, equipped, and sent by God, and challenges us to consider how God has uniquely gifted each of us to serve His purposes. You are called. You are equipped. You have been given gifts for a purpose. Now, what will you do with them? The Anchored Church exists to Glorify God, Love Others, & Cultivate Resilient Disciples. Pastor Joshua Parriera preaches from 2 Samuel 9, exploring the story of Mephibosheth and the beautiful picture of grace we find in David’s kindness toward him. Mephibosheth lived in Lo-debar, far from the king, carrying a story of loss and brokenness. Yet David sought him out and invited him to the king’s table. His story reminds us that grace is not something we earn. We receive it, and we are called to extend it to others. Join Pastor Joshua Parriera and The Anchored Church as we consider what it means to live as people who have received grace and are called to extend it.
